MONOTONE ITERATION FOR ELLIPTIC PDEs WITH DISCONTINUOUS NONLINEAR TERMS

In this paper, we use monotone iterative techniques to show the existence of maximal or minimal solutions of some elliptic PDEs with nonlinear discontinuous terms. As the numerical analysis of this PDEs is concerned, we prove the convergence of discrete extremal solutions.

In this paper, we study the P-stability of the continuous Runge-Kutta Nystroem method for solving the delayed second order differential equation that does not depend on y′. A general theorem is presented which can be used to obtain complete characterizations of the P-stability regions of these continuous RungeKutta- Nystroem methods. Decomposition of Cyclohexyl-t-butyl-Dimethylammonium Tetraphenylborate: Synthesis and kinetics

A new compound cyclohexyl-t-butyldimethylammonium tetraphenylborate, [C₆H₁₁N(CH₃)₂(C(CH₃)₃)]BPh₄ has been prepared, and its decomposition mechanism was studied by TG. The IR spectra of the products of thermal decomposition were examined at every stage. Kinetic analysis for the first stage of thermal decomposition process was obtained by TG and DTG curves, and kinetic parameters were obtained from the analysis of the TG-DTG curves with integral and differential equations. The most probable kinetic function was suggested by comparison of kinetic parameters.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

二氧化碳氧化丙烷制丙烯催化反应的研究铬镁铝复合氧化物催化剂的制备、表面微量吸附量热及催化性能

以共沉淀法合成的铬镁铝类水滑石为前体,制备了一系列不同原子比的铬镁铝复合氧化物,研究了其对二氧化碳氧化丙烷制丙烯反应的催化性能.采用微量吸附量热技术,以CO2和NH3为探针分子定量地表征了样品表面酸碱中心的强度和数量,并与其催化性能进行了关联.结果表明,Cr:Mg:Al原子比为1:1:1的催化剂具有较大的比表面积(94.5m2/g),样品中Mg(Al1.5Cr05)O4物相的含量最多.样品表面存在数量较多强度较强的酸性中心和数量最少强度较弱的碱性中心,对NH3吸附,它的吸附热为145 kJ/mol,吸附覆盖度为3.55μmol/m2;对CO2吸附,它的吸附热为115kJ/mol,吸附覆盖度为0.063μmol/m2.该样品的催化活性最高,在温度为650℃,CO2/C3H8摩尔比为3.6,GHSV(C3H8)为3000 h-1时,C3H8的转化率为22.8%,C3H6的选择性为83.5%,收率为19.1%.     

Soldering of Bi-2223/Ag high temperature superconducting tapes with Sn–Pb–Bi–Ag alloy paste

Soldered joints of Bi-2223/Ag-sheathed high temperature superconducting multifilamentary tapes were fabricated using 63 wt.%Sn–34 wt.%Pb–1 wt.%Bi–2 wt.%Ag paste. The soldered joints were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Moreover, the electrical properties of joints were evaluated by current–voltage curves, and the tensile strengths of the joints were also tested. The results show that the soldered joint consists of Ag sheath – Ag₃Sn compound layer – PbSn₂ and Ag₃Sn solder layer – Ag₃Sn compound layer – Ag sheath. The joints are obeyed with Ohms Law and the magnitude of the joint resistance, which deceases with the increase of the overlap length, can reach the order of 10^?8 Ω. The tensile strength of the joints with a brittle fracture mode is a little lower than that of the original tapes.     

Tc map and superconductivity of simple metals at high pressure

We calculate T_c map in region of weak electron–phonon coupling based on simple phonon spectrum. By using linear-response method and density functional theory, we calculate phonon spectra and Eliashberg functions of simple metals under pressure. Based on the evolutions of superconducting parameters of simple metals on the T_c map with increasing pressure, we find that there are two different responses to pressure for simple metals: (1) enhancing electron–phonon interaction λ such as for La and Li, (2) increasing phonon frequency such as for Pb, Pt. The λ threshold effect is found, which origins from the competition between electron–phonon interaction and electron–electron Coulomb interaction and is the reason why T_c of most superconductors of simple metals are higher than 0.1 K.     

Nonlinear optical properties of nanometer-size silver composite azobenzene containing polydiacetylene film

Diacetylene monomer containing p-nitrophenyl azobenzene moiety (NADA) was synthesized. Silver nanoparticles with different concentrations were adulterated in the above polymerized NADA (PNADA) films and the third-order nonlinear optical properties were investigated in detail. UV–vis spectra and transmission electron microscopy were used to confirm the formation of PNADA/Ag nanocomposite films. The silver nanoparticles (average size of 10 nm) were well dispersed in the polymer films. The value of the nonlinear refractive index n ₂ for PNADA films (8.48×10⁻¹⁵ cm²/W) was much higher than that of pure polydiacetylene films. Further, the introduction of silver nanoparticles into the PNADA polymer films led to the further enhancement of nonlinear optical properties. The maximum value of n ₂ for PNADA/Ag nanocomposite films could be 11.6×10⁻¹⁵ cm²/W. This enhancement should be ascribed to the surface plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles.
